The Alabama Independent School Association has released its new alignments for football, and local schools Morgan Academy and Meadowview Christian School will welcome some new foes to their regions this upcoming season.

The AISA released the new football alignments for 2012-2014 for all three of its classifications.

The Class A Meadowview Christian School Trojans lost former opponents Autauga Academy, Cornerstone and Coosa Valley, but welcome Marengo Academy and Pickens Academy to Class A Region 2.

“You’ve got Marengo and Pickens coming down (from Class AA), and Autauga and Coosa Valley moving up (to Class AA), so we’re in Class A Region 2 and it’s got a lot of strong teams in it,” said Meadowview head football coach Lebo Jones. “There are some traditional powerhouses in the region and it ought to be a tough region this year.”

The Trojans’ region will still include familiar foes Sparta Academy, Sumter Academy and defending Class A state champion Jackson Academy.

Jones said it’s a tough challenge ahead, but the Trojans have a chance.

“It’ll be a tough region and we’ll have to play some real good football to make the playoffs, but I think we’ve got a good chance,” Jones said.

The Morgan Academy Senators will still call Class AAA Region 2 home, but they say goodbye last season’s members Kingwood Christian School, EMCA, Bessemer Academy, Tuscaloosa Academy — who all switch to Class AAA Region1—and Prattville Christian Academy, who is now a member of the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

The Senators region will consist of Hooper Academy, which shared the region with Morgan last year, and newcomers Fort Dale Academy, Escambia Academy, Monroe Academy and Pike Liberal Arts. Senators’ head football coach Bob Taylor said the region is still full of good teams. “We picked up three pretty good teams to replace some pretty good teams that left us,” Taylor said. “It’s going to be a tough region, but I like our region. I think we can hold our own in that region.”
