Meadowview Christian doubled up Evangel Family Christian Academy 68-34 Friday to win its first game as an 8-man football team.
The Trojans were were led by C.J. Grimes, who scored four total touchdowns in the game. Grimes ran for two touchdowns, took an interception back for a touchdown, and recovered a fumble on the opening possession and ran it back for a score.
“The boys played really hard,” Jones said. “You could tell the effort was there. We had a good week of practice and we did a few things different during the week and I think it helped.”
Tyler Sebren added three touchdowns of his own, as he ran a kickoff back for a score and had two rushing touchdowns. Chris Maul and Jevar McGuire also added touchdowns.
Jones said he isn’t sure of the last time Meadowview scored 68 points or more, but he knows it’s been a while.
“We scored 67 a couple of years ago but 68 is the most points we’ve scored here, in I don’t know how long — but it has to be a long time,” Jones said.
Meadowview hosts New Life Christian Friday.
