Selma 59, G.W. Carver 56

Selma earned the outright region championship with a 59-56 win over G.W. Carver on Friday.

Wendell Lewis and Duprie Rivers led the Saints with 16 points apiece. Justin Ravizee added 10 and DeAngelo Norris finished with nine.

Randy Tucker led Carver with 19 points.

Central Christian 87, Jackson Academy 27

Central Christian earned an 87-27 win at Jackson Academy on Friday.

Bryant Rawls led the Warriors with 20 points. Wesley Bell added 18, Keevan Woods finished with 17 and Pierre Coleman chipped in 12.

Kingwood Christian 51, Morgan 48

Morgan lost 51-48 in an overtime heartbreaker at Kingwood on Friday.

Coal Brown led the Senators with 18 points. Heath Harrelson added 14 and Sam Tate chipped in eight.

Justin Davis scored 16 to lead Kingwood, and Clint Ballard contributed 15.

Girls basketball

Meadowview 47, Southern Academy 33

Meadowview defeated Southern Academy 47-33 on Friday.

Kayla Kaldor led the Trojans with 16 points. Katey McIntyre added 13. Tamara Stacey finished with 14 rebounds.

Allison Woods led Southern with 16 points.

Kingwood Christian 30, Morgan 26

The Morgan girls lost a heartbreaker to Kingwood 30-26 Friday night.

Morgan was down at the end of the first half 21-10 but closed the gap, finishing the third quarter down 23-19.

Morgan got within two but couldn’t put the game away. Caitlin Henderson led Morgan with eight points and eight rebounds, followed by Sarah Hughey with five points and 11 rebounds. April Clark had six points and six rebounds. Rachel Smith added five rebounds, and Anne Woodruff had four points.

Morgan plays on the road Tuesday at Clarke Prep.

Central Christian 60, Jackson 29

Central Christian earned a 60-29 road win over Jackson Academy on Friday.

Kara Rawls led the Warriors with 20 points. Tiffany Brown added 18 and Sandretta Thomas finished with 14.
