Tuscaloosa Academy eliminates Morgan Academy from girls AISA semifinals

The Lady Senators’ time in Montgomery was cut short on Friday morning after being knocked out of the final four by the Tuscaloosa Academy Lady Knights 46-27.

The Lady Knights took an early lead in the first quarter breaking through the Lady Senators’ defense.

Abigail Lane scored the only points in the first quarter with three This left the first quarter with a big 10-3 lead by the Lady Knights.

In the second quarter, the Senators gained some ground with Averee Adams scoring three points, Kalee Jones and Faith Lane scoring two.

By the end of the second quarter, the Lady Knights led the Senators 20-11.

After halftime, the Knights advanced 19 more points in the third quarter.

The Senators got three points from Adams leaving the score 39-14.

In the last quarter, the Senators picked up the most points in the game with four points from Bailey Brown, six from Lane and 3 from Jones in free-throws.

Lady Senators Coach Lebo Jones said Tuscaloosa Academy has a great team.

“We probably lost to the state champions,” he said. “They are a great team. They have only lost a few times this year. They beat us, but our girls gave maximum effort. They always do, and I’m proud of how far we have come.”
