SCC hosting four-ball tournament this weekend

There won’t be a big field at the Selma Country Club this weekend for the 15th annual four-ball championship, but that doesn’t mean the tournament will be any less competitive.

A total of 12 teams and 24 players will take part in the tournament. Andy Stewart and Paul Garner are the defending champions and will tee it up again this weekend.

“I would call it more of a social tournament and just a fun get-together deal than most of them are,” said Tommy Burns, PGA professional with the Selma Country Club.

Last year, the final round of the tournament was rained out. After storms Friday, the weather forecast calls for a clear weekend.

The teams will be broken into four different flights.

The tournament will start at 1 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Burns said the early start Sunday is so that those playing will be able to watch the conclusion of The Masters that afternoon.
