Dixie Youth season coming to a close

As the summer inches by, some Dixie Youth teams have already begun to see the end of their seasons.

Both 15-and-under girls softball teams were eliminated from their district tournament in Demopolis over the weekend.

The Selma pre-majors were also eliminated from their tournament by Thomasville Sunday. The pre-majors lost to Thomasville 7-1 Sunday. The team started the weekend by losing 5-3 to Thomasville Friday night. The Selma pre-majors came back to win Saturday 14-4, but were still eliminated Sunday after their loss to Thomasville.

The 11 and 12-year-old boys team, Selma O-Zone, won Friday, 13-3 against Grove Hill and went on to play Monroeville Saturday. Selma O-Zone lost to Monroeville 16-6, but lived to see another day since the tournament is double elimination. Selma O-Zone was set to face Grove Hill again Monday. Their tournament is being held in Monroeville.

The 14-year-old boy’s baseball team remained undefeated going into Monday night. Friday, the 14-year-old team played Prattville and won 13-5. The 14-year-old team beat Thomasville 12-4 Saturday night.

The Selma Dixie Major team will play in the Dixie Youth State Tournament Thursday, July 10 hosted by Selma at Bloch Park.
