Morgan Academy’s baseball season ended on Wednesday.
The Senators were swept by No. 1 Pike Liberal Arts 6-3, 6-0 in the best-of-3 AISA third-round baseball series at Morgan Academy.
The Senators finished the season at 20-10 and ranked ninth statewide.
Andrew Thomas took the loss in Game One. Chris Gardner, C.J. Crocker and Thomas all had a hit. T.B. Clements stole a base.
In the second game, Morgan Academy only had two hits. John Allen Ingram and Chris Gardner each got a hit.
Hayden Roberts took the Game two loss for the Senators.
Morgan Academy baseball coach Stephen Clements said he was proud of the Senators for overcoming adversity this season.
“I don’t think I have ever been more proud of a group of guys,” Clements said. “This team bought into everything that the coaching staff was trying to do and worked hard everyday.
“They were the true testament to a team standing by each other for the great plays and great mistakes. They overcame a lot of adversity and got better everyday.”
Clements praised the pitching of Andrew Thomas and Osagie Aghedo, plus the entire squad.
“I think our pitching staff was lights out, led by Thomas and Aghedo,” Clements said. “Having only two seniors meant we had to rely on several underclassmen to play huge roles in the leadership areas. I’m super proud of them and this coaching staff. I’m so thankful that Jesus allowed me to be a part of them.”
