Morgan Academy began defense of its AISA state golf championship on Monday at Troy Country Club.

The Senators shot a winning score of 279. Jones Free was low medalist for the tournament.

First-year golf coach Will Pearce was pleased with the team’s opening day performance.

“We’ve got a good team,”  Pearce said.  “The guys have been working hard.”

Morgan Academy has a solid team, led by Free, a University of Alabama verbal commitment. Thomas Morris, Gus Colvin, Arrington Mooney, George Turner, Brody Roberts, Tayem Hammad, Jude Assaad and Will Allison.
