Ellwood Christian Academy snaps long losing streak

Ellwood Christian Academy won its first football game in three years.

Running back Londarius Dean ran for 150 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Eagles defeated A.L. Johnson 40-14 on the road Friday night.

The Eagles snapped a 45-game losing streak, according to their head coach Ray Blanks.

“It’s a good win for the seniors, they went three seasons without a victory,” Blanks said. “We played an organized game and the players learned how to play schemes.”

Otis Lee and Terrance Davis also scored touchdowns for the Eagles (1-6, 1-3 Region 3, Class 1A).

Montgomery Academy 33, Southside 30: Ernest Hatcher scored two touchdowns for the Panthers (4-3, 3-2 Region 3, Class 3A). KeAndre Williams and Taye Spears also scored for Southside.

“We’ll just working and trying to improve next week,” Panthers coach Charles Moody said.

West Blocton 53, Dallas County 20: The Hornets  (3-4, 2-2 Region 3, Class 4A) fell on the road at West Blocton. The Tigers led 14-0 after one quarter and 47-6 at halftime. 

Aaron Fails scored two touchdowns and Jamichael Goings had the other score for the Hornets.

Stanhope-Elmore 24, Selma 0: The Saints dropped to 4-3, 3-2 in Region 3, Class 6A.
