Roundup: Dallas County baseball tops Isabella

Caleb Lester drove in four runs to lead Dallas County past Isabella 16-4 on Tuesday afternoon.

Cole Robertson and Gabe Denson each had two RBIs as the Hornets picked up the win.  Patrick Haskell, Delando Atchison and Donnie Ross also drove in runs. Atchison pitched two scoreless innings and had two strikeouts. Caleb Lester relieved Atchison and gave up four runs on three hits. Denson also pitched two innings and didn’t allow a single run.

The Hornets junior varsity also played Billingsley Wednesday. The game ended in a 19-19 tie.

Wallace 8, Huntingdon College JV 2

Wallace Community College Selma won its third straight game Monday against the Huntingdon College (J.V.) Hawks. Joseph Simonetti went two for three at the plate with a home run and two RBIs to lead the way for the Patriots. Sloan Tyler went three for five with one RBI. Corey Lowe was two for four with two RBIs.

Kyle Friday went one for four with the one hit being a triple, which scored an RBI as well. Brondrick Johnson and Chandler Mullins also had one RBI each. Patriots’ starting pitcher

Tyler Payne gave up only one run on five hits in six innings. Payne also gave up only one walk with two strikeouts.

Chase Laney made an appearance at the start of the seventh inning.

Laney surrendered one run on two hits with two strikeouts.

Wallace looks to continue their winning ways on Thursday. The Patriots travel to Marion for a rematch with the MMI Tigers.
