Meadowview girls basketball defeats Marion, boys fall

Three players scored in double figures to lead Meadowview Christian to a 65-17 win Thursday over Marion Academy in the Trojans (1-0) season opener.

Christina Dabit scored 15 points, Hannah Thornton poured in 13 points and Mallory Freine added 10 points for Meadowview.

“We played good defense and shot the ball well,” said Trojans coach Scott Gunter.

Meadowview boys fall to Marion Academy

Despite big nights from Jevar and Justin McGuire, Meadowview Christian fell 48-39 to Marion Academy Thursday night.

Jevar scored 21 points and he also added 10 rebounds to lead the way for the Trojans. Justin wasn’t far behind as he had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Meadowview (0-1).

The Trojans will try to bounce back Friday on the road at Conecuh Springs.
