Roundup: Senators season ends in Elite 8

Glenwood Academy 48, Morgan Academy 14 (Girls)
The Morgan Academy Lady Senators saw their season end Thursday in a 48-14 loss to Glenwood Academy in the AISA’s Elite 8 at Huntingdon College.
The Senators trailed only 14-10 after the first quarter, but struggled to find the basket the rest of the way.
Kendall Veach led the way for the Senators with eight points. Emily Sherrer, Mary Stewart and Anna Gayle Hubbard scored the other six points for Morgan.
Monroe County 50, Southside 39 (Boys)
Southside’s season ended Thursday in the first round of the class 4A, area 3 tournament. The Panthers lost to Monroe County 50-39 in a game played at Thomasville High School.
Jhalandius Sullivan scored 12 points to pace Southside.
Hillcrest 60, Selma 38 (Boys)
Jared Pruitt scored 27 points to lead Hillcrest past Selma Thursday in the first round of the class 6A, area 6 tournament.
The Saints saw their season come to a close with the loss against a Patriots team they had defeated in the most recent meeting between the two squads. Mike Davis also scored 21 for Hillcrest.
The game was played at Paul Bryant High School.
Meadowview Christian 52, Tabernacle 45 (Boys)
Clayton Thornton scored 22 points to lead Meadowview Christian to a 52-45 victory Thursday over Tabernacle Christian.
Justin McGuire added 16 points for the Trojans (13-4).
Tabernacle 35, Meadowview 27 (Girls)
Claudia Kendrick scored 12 points but Meadowview Christian’s Lady Trojans fell short against Tabernacle Christian in a 35-27 defeat. Taylor Roberts added 6 points and Mallory Freine had 5 for the Trojans (13-4).
BASEBALL: Wallace 5, Lawson 4 (10 innings)
Chad Salvani had a walk off hit in the 10th inning Wednesday to lead Wallace Community College Selma back for a 5-4 win over Lawson State.
The Patriots (1-0) had to rally from an early 3-0 deficit to get the win. Lawson scored three runs in the first inning, all off of pitcher Alex Campbell. Joe Pradat, who had two hits, and B.J. Johnson helped lead the comeback. Johnson had two hits, including a double and an RBI.
Pitcher Toby King (1-0) got the win for the Patriots. The game was played at Bloch Park.
