Yellow Jackets sting Saints in rout

MCCALLA — McAdory improved to 4-0, 2-0 in Class 6A, Region 4 with a 40-8 win over the visiting Selma Saints. The Yellow Jackets stood behind their defense that gave up just 141 yards of offense, forced four turnovers and blocked two punts.

The Yellow Jackets were up 3-0 after the first quarter but then began to take advantage of the visitors mistakes before halftime. McAdory used good field position to score 23 second quarter points.

McAdory’s defense was a team effort with four different players forcing turnovers. Malcolm Askew, Malik Moses and Tedarius Johnson all came away with interceptions while Vincent Lee recovered a second quarter fumble. Johnson returned his interception 99 yards late in the fourth quarter to put the exclamation point on the win.

The Yellow Jackets were lead by junior quarterback Jordan Jones on offense. Jones threw for 246 yards on 16 of 22 passing with 3 touchdowns while rushing for another 31 yards.

Moses, Askew and Willie Langham all came away with receiving touchdowns. Selma’s star of the night was quarterback Jesse Boggs who threw for 90 yards and a touchdown while running for 26 yards.
