YMCA hosting indoor soft toss, batting practice

Coaches and players wanting a little extra batting practice may want to get their team together and over to the Selma-Dallas County YMCA.
The YMCA will host indoor, soft toss batting practice starting on April 10.
The batting practice times will run from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The price is $20 per team for members and $25 per team for non-members.
“The idea originally started with we were going to put up outdoor batting cages,” Kasey Burton, fitness program director of the YMCA, said.
“We steered away from that after talking to the city and listening to their advice, so we decided to go with an indoor version.”
Burton said having indoor batting practice instead of outdoor batting cages will make it easier for the YMCA to staff and manage the practices.
Burton said the Selma Recreation Department has donated balls, helmets and bats to help get the program started.
