PLANTERSVILLE — Although there remains uncertainty who will be the head coach of the Dallas County Hornets at the start of the regular season, there has been little doubt about the work put in by the team as they prepare to culminate spring drills with a three-team Jamboree Friday night in Plantersville.
“The kids have really come out to work, shown up and been very attentive at what we’ve asked them to do,” interim head coach Barry Colburn said Wednesday. “They have had to deal with a lot this spring with the installation of new offense and defense.
“We’re just looking forward to Friday night when we can hit someone else other then our own teammates.”
Friday’s Jamboree will begin at 7 p.m. at Dallas County High School and feature the Hornets, Marbury High School and Bibb County High School.
The format will feature an 8-minute session between Marbury and Dallas County’s varsity, followed by a series of possessions in the red zone area. Then, the two school’s junior varsity teams will square off for eight minutes.
The same format will be used in the second session, when Marbury and Bibb County face each other.
The final session will feature the teams from Bibb County and Dallas County.
The jamboree marks the end of spring drills.
