The Saints (1-1, 0-1) will play Wilcox-Central (0-2, 0-1) Friday night at Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. in another all-important region game that will determine their postseason fate.

Selma head coach Leroy Miles said his team played well enough to win last Friday but just had a few bad calls against it in a hostile environment.

“It’s a tough loss, and when you view the film you start really getting a chance to look at some calls and stuff that were made and it’s evident that it wasn’t going to be in our favor,” Miles said.

The Saints will return home to Memorial Stadium, and Miles said his team will have to make some corrections if it wants to defend its turf.

“We’ve got some corrections to make as it relates to our special teams, getting people on and off the field,” Miles said. “I think we need to get a little more organized on the sideline as it relates to special teams.”

Miles said, along with improving on special teams, the Saints will have to prepare to face an athletic Wilcox-Central team.

“We’ve seen a little game film on them, and they’ve got a lot of athletes,” Miles said. “Their coach is new … in due time they’ll be a pretty solid program.”

Miles reiterated that special teams will be the key to winning this week.

“I think we’ve got to play better on special teams,” Miles said. “I thought our guys played hard enough and well enough to win at Paul Bryant. If we can make those corrections on special teams, I think we’ll be alright down the road.”
