Cream always rises to top

The first televised debates for the Republican nominee to run for president in 2016 is history.  Unfortunately, this is just the beginning of many more to come.  By the time the Democrats begin their same process and the two nominees for each party are chosen and they exchange insults several times, there should be total burn out with voters seeking the best candidate. However, we know many voters strictly go by party preference or the popular choice whether they be the most qualified or not.  All voters have a responsibility to be informed and act accordingly. Therefore, public forums provide a service to allow voters a glimpse into each candidate. Although, it is best to judge men and women by what they do and not what they say. As Scripture suggests, a tree will be judged by the fruit it bears.

The sheer numbers vying for the Republican nomination is remarkable. Of the seventeen participating in the discussions during the first debate, anyone of whom would be an improvement over what we have now. They consist of a diverse group of young and seasoned candidates with the credentials to do a good job. Comparing to the announced Democrats so far, the Republicans seem to be the party of the future while the Democrats are being represented by the has-beens and the never will be.

It seems each incremental step Republicans make requires one more. We thought when the House went Republican things would change, but then the Senate was needed. After the Senate went Republican the thought was surely things will begin to change for the better. But, it hasn’t. Now the clarion cry is we need the presidency. I wonder what excuse will be used then for the lack of reforms to immigration, welfare, tax codes and the IRS, health care, repeal of government regulations stifling jobs creation, eliminating wasteful government programs and departments, returning education to the states, repealing liberal executive orders, eliminate providing arms and money to our enemies, and most importantly placing God back in His rightful position in the nation.

However, speaking to the present situation of controlling both the House and Senate, I believe leadership in both is anemic and must change for better outcomes. The Democrats are still calling the shots as evidenced by the inability to withhold funds from Planned Parenthood. Public tax money should not be flowing into an organization engaged in such gruesome practices. Surely women’s health can be protected and provided while denying funds for what is going on at Planned Parenthood.

As for the debate, the cream always rises to the top, and I believe Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett Packard; Dr. Ben Carson, former neurosurgeon; Sen. Marco Rubio from Florida; Gov. John Kasich of Ohio; Sen. Ted Cruz from Texas; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker; and former Gov. of Arkansas Mike Huckabee are the future of the Republican Party and hopefully the nation.
