Meadowview Christian found some offense in the final inning of their 8-3 loss to Macon East in Morgan Academy’s Pepsi Baseball Classic Tournament, but the bats came alive a little too late.

By the times the Trojans started scoring runs, the Knights already had too big of a lead.

“We made a few costly errors that cost us the game and we didn’t hit the ball too well,” Meadowview Christian head coach Scott Gunter said. “We only had three hits.”

Macon led 3-0 after the first inning and didn’t look back in building an 8-0 lead after six innings. Gunter said Trojans’ starting pitcher Dakota Sanders pitched well, but the team made too many mistakes behind him.

“We are young. We have a seventh grader and eighth grader that plays a lot,” Gunter said. “We make a lot of mistakes right now and we just going to have to get over that.”

Meadowview scored all of its runs in the seventh inning,

The Trojans loaded the bases when Sanders was hit by a pitch. Colter Johnson singled to score a couple of runs and Austin Tubbs singled minutes later to bring in a third score for Meadowview.

But the run ended as fast as it began.

Heath Day struck out and Jay Pritchett grounded out to end the game.
