The Keith Lady Bears snuck by Wilcox Central 52-45 Friday night at the Dallas County Classic Tournament to reach the championship game.

After letting a 43-33 lead nearly dissipate, the Bears held off the Jaguars due to ball control and great defense in the final quarter.

“I had to remind my girls to settle that we had the lead and there’s no shot clock in high school,” Keith head coach Cecil Williams said. “We could just kill the clock and pull the ball out and go man-to-man.”

Harriet Winchester led the Bears with 12 points and Zykia Pettway had 11 points. Rachel Madison led the Jaguars in scoring with 14 points.

The Bears will play R. C. Hatch in the championship game Saturday night at 6:30 p.m.

“We are looking for a competitive game,” Williams said. “I know we are going to have to play defense and rebound very well.”
