Meadowview falls in state tournament, earns experience

The Meadowview Christian Lady Trojans knew they had a tough road ahead for them in the AISA Class 1A softball championships Friday. And tough it was.

The Lady Trojans were swept out of the tournament in two straight games, losing to Lakeside School 10-0 and the Patrician Academy 6-1.

But, the experience is something the young Lady Trojan team can build on heading into next year. The appearance in this year’s tournament marked the return for Meadowview after five years.

In the first game, Meadowview’s Claudia Kendrick faced the hard-hitting Lakeside team that racked up 10 runs on the Lady Trojans.  And in return, Lakeside not only shut out Meadowview, but held them without a hit.

“Claudia pitched for us and hit her spots for the most part,” Meadowview head coach Elyse McIntyre said. “Lake side has a good hitting team, but we made some youthful errors on our end.”

In game two, Meadowview’s Lyndsey Patton struck out three Patrician batters, but it wasn’t good enough as Patrician rolled Meadowview 6-1 for the win.

Maggie Tipton, Mallory Freine, Jessa Jarvis and Patton each had hits in the game, while Kendrick picked up two walks.
