Morgan hosting Hooper

The Morgan Academy Senators (3-3, 1-2 AISA Class 3A-Region 2) are hoping a return home will end a three-game losing streak, as they’ll host the Hooper Academy Colts (3-4, 1-2 AISA Class 3A-Region 2) on Friday at 7 p.m. in a region game.

The Senators are coming off a 38-28 road loss to region opponent Fort Dale, which marked three straight losses for Morgan, while Hooper is trying to recover from last week’s 41-6 loss against Monroe Academy.

Meadowview suffered its second straight loss last Friday in a 42-26 defeat at Marengo Academy, while Cornerstone is riding a three-game winning streak after winning 40-13 last week at Chambers Academy.

Cornerstone won last year’s game against the Trojans 59-21.

Hornets heading to No. 2 Dadeville

The Dallas County Hornets (2-3, Class 4A-Region 3) are preparing for a trip to one of the best teams in Class 4A, as they’ll travel to the No. 2 Dadeville Tigers (5-0, 3-0 Class 4A-Region 3) Friday at 7 p.m. in a region game.

The game marks the third for the Hornets against a region opponent currently ranked in the Alabama Sports Writers Association top ten poll, as they’ve already suffered losses to third-ranked Central-Clay County and seventh-ranked Handley.

The Hornets are coming off their second win of the season, a 26-6 homecoming victory over Francis Marion.

Ellwood going to Maplesville

The Ellwood Christian Eagles (3-2, 2-1 Class 1A-Region 3) are looking to bounce back after last Thursday’s 14-13 loss to A.L. Johnson, as they’ll face the No. 3 Maplesville Red Devils (4-1, 3-0 Class 1A-Region 3) Friday at 7 p.m. in a region game.

Maplesville is coming off its first loss of the season, a 17-14 defeat to Sweet Water — the No. 5 team in Class 2A.

Selma welcoming Saraland

The Selma High School Saints (1-4, 0-3 Class 5A-Region 3) will return to their region slate on Friday at 7 p.m. when they host an unfamiliar foe in the Saraland Spartans (3-2, 2-1 Class 5A-Region 3) in a region game.

Friday’s game marks the first-ever meeting between the two opponents.

Saraland is coming off a 29-24 loss to Mary G. Montgomery, while Selma is coming off a 38-21 loss against Sidney Lanier, its fourth straight.

The Southside High School Panthers (1-4, 1-2 Class 3A-Region 1) will look to end a three-game losing streak when they travel to the Opp Bobcats (2-3, 1-2 Class 3A-Region 1) for a region game Friday at 7 p.m.

The game will be the first-ever meeting between the region opponents.

Opp is coming off a 22-14 loss to Andalusia, while the Panthers are trying to rebound from last week’s 43-6 loss against rival Keith.
