The Meadowview Christian School Trojans are getting set for region play on the road Friday.

The Trojans (0-2) will travel to Montgomery to face the Eastwood Christian Warriors (1-2) Friday at 7 p.m. in a non-region game.

Lebo Jones, head football coach of Meadowview Christian School, said the Trojans have been focusing heavily on the physical aspect of the game.

“We’ve been in full pads just about the whole week just working on getting physical, getting tough and getting off blocks and just doing a better job executing,” Jones said.

The Trojans will be facing a new member of the Alabama Independent School Association when they take the field Friday.

“I went and scouted them last Friday night against Marengo [Academy] and I’ve seen film on them. They’re a new team this year to the AISA — it’s their first year to have a football team,” Jones said. “They played real hard as a group, but they don’t have many kids out.”

Jones said the Trojans have to attack the football more in order to stop opponents.

“We’ve just got to get more physical overall offensively and defensively,” Jones said. “Defensively we’ve just got to be tough and go after people instead of just sitting around waiting on somebody else to do the job. Everybody needs to know what their job is and do it.”

Jones added that execution has to be solid for Meadowview to be able to win.

“I think if we take care of ourselves, we’ve got a good chance to win the game,” Jones said. “We’re not changing anything in our philosophy, we’re just going to run the ball most of the time, do some play-action passes, and we’ve just got to execute better. I think if we execute, we’ll be fine.”
