Armed robber caught
The Selma Police Department apprehended 27-year-old Arzie Davis III Friday, June 21 for robbing a Selma resident at gunpoint nearly one month prior.
According to the department, Davis was wanted in the May 25 robbery of a Selma resident, in which, Davis and Sickia Bowen gave the victim a ride from the 1200 Block of Woodrow Avenue.
Police said Davis told Bowen, who was driving, to drive to the west-side of Selma. When the victim attempted to exit the vehicle, Davis pulled a handgun on the victim and demanded they leave all their property in the vehicle.
Police said when the victim was released they were able to make contact with a patrolman in the area and provided a description of the vehicle.
Officers made contact with the suspects’ vehicle, but Davis exited the vehicle — dropping a handgun on the ground as Bowen sped off.
Selma Police Officers were able to stop the vehicle after a chase and took Bowen into custody. She was not charged, but a warrant was issued for the arrest of Davis III for Robbery 1st.
Davis was charged Friday with one count of robbery first degree, for which he is being held on bond in the Dallas County Jail for $100,000 cash or property. However, because Davis had a probation violation at the time of his arrest, he will be held with no bond.
