Douglas Wayne Hayes, age 74, of Valley Grande, AL, passed away July 22, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis P. and Sarah J. Hayes. brothers, Hoyt P. Hayes and Harold R. Hayes and sister, Carolyn H. Shell.

Surviving are his wife, Rachel B. Hayes; children, Tracy Pieper (Jim Grassiano), Douglas W. (Rebekah) Hayes, Jr. and Tammy Sumerlin and grandchildren, Meredith Pieper, Melanie Pieper, Brandon Hayes, Jennifer Hayes, Emily Hayes and Hayes Pieper.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Selma Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stephen Rutherford officiating.  Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 6-8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Hayes, Stephen McHaney, Scott McHaney, Kenneth Hayes, Rickie Wilkinson and Jim Grassiano.  Honorary pallbearer will be Al Frith.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, 2950 Citizens Pkwy., Selma, AL, 36701.
