Faye Carter Keener, formerly of Selma, passed away July 19, 2014 at the age of 88 at the Prattville Health and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.

Funeral services were Monday, July 21, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Rod Rochester officiating. Visitation was prior to the service at 1:30 p.m. Interment ll followed in New Live Oak cemetery.

Mrs. Keener was born in Autauga County, AL and lived in Selma over 55 years. She was an active member of Central Baptist Church which is now Valley Grande Baptist Church. While there, she was very active in Baptist Women, Homebound Ministry and the Hospital Visitation Ministry of the church. She had a very caring heart for people in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Keener. They had been blessed with a marriage over 58 years. In the younger years of their marriage, they shared their Christian home with many foster children from the Alabama Methodist Children’s home in Selma.

She is survived by her brother, Otis (Gladys) Carter; sister, Willie Jean Greene both of Prattville, AL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Prattville Health and Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and help during Mrs. Keeners stay.
