Mrs. Audrey T. Reed, age 90, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the home of daughter and son-in-law in Rome, Georgia. Born on January 20, 1923 in Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dorothy Tate, two sisters, Maisie Crabb and Beatrice Patton and two brothers, Guy Crabb and Leslie Crabb.

Mrs. Reed spent most of her life in Selma, Alabama and served the United States as a Department of the Air Force civilian for nearly 30 years. She worked at Craig Air Force Base until it closed in 1977, where she had become the Chief of Civilian Personnel. Mrs. Reed was a long-time member and past president of the Selma Emblem Club where she participated in many community support activities.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jack; her son, Robert (Wanda) Woods of Valley Grande and two daughters, Sandra (Sam) Wood or Eagle River, Alaska and Margaret (Frankie) Oyler of Rome, Georgia. Her family also includes nine grandchildren, Robert C. Woods, Lisa Musselman, Dr. Tate (Jenni) Woods, Scott (Tanya) Woods, Gary (Melissa) Wood, Dr. Jason (Amy) Oyler, Kristen (Travis) Holmes, Reed (Shaandiin) Oyler and Megan Wood and 17 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Cory Horton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to The Lustgarten Foundation (Pancreatic Research), 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, New York 11714 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
