Fitting out is better than fitting in

We live in a world that has mastered the art of fitting in. On a daily basis we encounter individuals who attempt to fit in, causing us to wonder who they really are. When taking off all of the designer clothes, makeup, eyelashes, and sometimes hair, who will we find underneath? Since many have the tendency to hide their true identity, they begin to live in a fantasy world lacking authentic relationships. However, what many fail to see is that life is not asking you to be a perfect, fictitious character.

Instead, life wants the original and unique you that God created to compliment others with differing characters and personalities. For years, people have covered up and hid their real identity in an attempt to just fit in with everyone else. We are not all the same; in fact, “fitting in is highly overrated. It is better to fit out than to fit in. Fitting out means being who you are, even when people insist that you change. Fitting out means taking up space, not apologizing for yourself, and not agreeing with those who seek to label you with stereotypes.”

You were born with too much of an investment inside of you to play it safe. You’re too important to just fit in with everyone else or to pretend like there is nothing special about you. You are not like everyone else. Greatness is all over you! In fact, that is why you look out of place when you just want to blend in. It is time for you to stop fitting in and start fitting out. You can no longer fit in and fake it. You have been exposed. Fitting in only leaves you disappointed and frustrated.

When you begin to fit out, you might lose some friends. But, if they leave you because you have decided to be yourself, they were never your friend in the first place. Some people are not going to understand the real you; everyone can’t handle genuine people. But celebrate who you are anyway. Whoever doesn’t like you fitting out is going to have to deal with their own personal insecurities. They will either get over it or move on.

To fit out means you are sick and tired of apologizing for who you really are. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “to be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else, is the greatest accomplishment.” The world does not need more people to fit in. Instead, we need more people to fit out.
