HESTER, Marvin, Jr., 77, of Montgomery, died on October 26, 2008 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Decatur, Alabama in 1931, the son of Marvin and Shelley Hester. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joy Townsend Hester. He was a graduate of Auburn University and a member of the Auburn Golf Team from 1951 – 1953. After serving in the Air Force, he worked for BellSouth where he retired after 34 years. He is survived by two daughters, Heidi Hester Lee (Robert), Montgomery, Alabama and Heather Hester Sasser (Steve), Decatur, Alabama; six grandchildren, Caroline Lee, Gibbs Lee, William Sasser, Matthew Sasser, Andrew Sasser and Phillip Sasser. A memorial service will be held at Young Meadows Presbyterian Church, 5780 Vaughn Road, on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Young Meadows Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Building Fund or the Stegall Semi-nary Scholarship Fund.
