A. J. Wells, age 94, a resident of Selma, AL, passed away February 15, 2009. He was born July 12, 1914 in Piper, AL.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jesse Langston, Alberta Roberts and Kathleen Hull.
He is survived by his son, James (Margot) Partin of Selma, AL; nephews, Ted (Joan) Hull and Ed (Hildegard) Roberts and niece, Edna Ruth (Frank) Hardy.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Grande Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in Montevallo Cemetery in Shelby County. Mr. Wells was a member at Valley Grande Baptist (formerly Central Baptist Church) for over 60 years, where he taught 3rd and 4th grade boys in Sunday School. He also coached Little League Baseball. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Valley Grande Baptist Church, 48 County Road 16, Valley Grande, AL 36701.
