Selma City Schools are taking care of issues at Selma High School and Meadowview Elementary School.

SCS Superintendent Dr. Zickeyous Byrd said a plumbing issue at Selma High School and mold concerns at Meadowview Elementary were addressed this week, which was spring break.

“The cleaning has gone well,” Byrd said. “All schools are cleaned and should be ready to resume on a normal schedule next week.”

At Meadowview Elementary School, crews inspected the entire school after mold was found in one of the classrooms.

A small portion of Selma High School was closed off this week after a plumbing back up in that area. Byrd said crews cleaned and disinfected the impacted area.

Byrd said the school system tries to look out for the students, teachers and employees at all schools.

“Of course the safety and security of our students and employees is of the utmost importance to Selma City Schools,” Byrd said. “We heard about the issue. And we addressed it immediately.”
