Keith girls advance, Bears eliminated

The Keith High girls basketball team advanced to the Class 1A Central Regional finals with a 68-52 victory over Autaugaville on Valentine’s Day at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham.
On the boys side, the Bears lost to Calhoun 48-44 in the Class 1A regional semifinals at Bill Harris Arena.

The Lady Bears (17-8) face Calhoun in the 1A Central Regional finals on Monday at 3 p.m. at Bill Harris Arena. The winner advances to the 1A state tournament.
“It’s a good feeling to have, knowing your girls put in the work to get here, from not winning a playoff game in four years toplaying for the central regional championship is a blessing,” Lady Bears coach Cecil Williams said.
The Lady Bears were led by Shania Moore’s 17 points. Aniyah Richardson added 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Autaugaville’s Makasiah Burns scored 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a losing effort.
Calhoun 48, Keith 44
The seventh-ranked Bears fell short in the Regional semifinals. In his final game at Keith, Tommy Tisdale III scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Tyler Robertson, recently selected for the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Student Leadership Team, led Calhoun with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
