Dallas County Commission approves several Resolutions

The Dallas County Commission met Monday and approved multiple resolutions during its monthly meeting at the Dallas County Courthouse.

The Commission voted to approve Project PBM for its Property Tax and Sales and Use Tax Abatements. Dallas County Attorney John Kelly said that he spoke to Selma-Dallas County Economic Development Authority Executive Director Wayne Vardaman. Kelly said Vardaman explained the tax abatement to him,  which is a $19.5. million capital investment with a $215,000 payroll.

“Dallas County is grateful and we appreciate it,” Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn said.

When contacted by the Selma Times-Journal on Friday, Vardaman said he couldn’t discuss further details than what he gave Kelly for the meeting. Vardaman said he planned to discuss the deal at a future date.

In other Dallas County Commission news:

-Wayne Dillard was approved as the newest Board member f the South Dallas Water Authority Board.

-A Professional Medical Services Agreement with Rural Health for the Dallas County Jail was approved with a $2,700 monthly fee.

-Dallas County EMA Director Toya Crusoe announced that anniversary of the Jan. 12 tornado will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 at noon at Arts Revive.

-Dallas County Engineer Anthony Crear made his first appearance at a Dallas County Commission meeting.

-Dallas County Courthouse will be closed Dec. 25-026 for Christmas and Dec. 29 and Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.

Nunn and Commissioners Curtis Williams, Connel Towns, Vivian Rogers were present at the meeting.
