It was four years in the making, but Dave’s Market officially held its grand opening on Monday.
They were surrounded by numerous officials from the Valley Grande Town Council, Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce, Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn and more.
“I thought I’d never see this day,” Mayor Wayne Labbe said. “And the store is great. I mean, all the way from the produce room to the bathrooms. Everything is very, very nice.”
The theme of the store is an old-time country store theme. However, the selection and prices would rival that of big box stores.
Dave’s Market has also added 15 additional employees at the store including three meat cutters. Labbe said the new store features more than 5,000 additional products that are not carried at the old store, which is now closed.
The event also attracted a big crowd of supporters from the community. The store is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
They also still offer curbside pickup.
