Selma Police Department investigating 18th murder of the year

The Selma Police Department is investigating the death of a female that occurred on Sunday morning. According to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford, the victim suffered from a gunshot wound and officers are calling it a homicide. This is the 18th murder of the year in Selma.
Around 5 a.m. Sunday morning, Selma Police officers were dispatched to the 600 Block of Twenty-Foot Avenue regarding a gunshot victim, according to Fulford. While en route officers located the vehicle transporting the victim and escorted the vehicle to the hospital.
While at the hospital, SPD officers observed a 23-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound. Fulford said that the victim was later pronounced dead. SPD did not reveal the victim’s identity.
