Get Fit Selma will hold a community meeting at Saturday at 9 a.m in McRae-Gaines
This will be first community planning meeting for Get Fit Selma! HealthFest & Street Olympics. Interested Selmians are invited to the meeting and Zoom is also an option.
Get Fit Selma! is scheduled for Saturday, October 7, and includes a 5K Run and Walk, Kids Color Run, health screenings, vendors, and two new activities: carnival fun for children and a Street Olympics competition for youth of all ages. The scheduled time starts at 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Board member Stephanie Hamm emphasized the importance of having Get Fit Selma.
“COVID shut down the in-person Get Fit Selma for three years, although we were able to serve the community with drive-by testing and vaccinations and a virtual webinar about self-care during a pandemic,” Hamm said.
Sandra Wright, a McRae parent, said they are looking forward to bringing the event back.
“We are ready to provide this health-filled fun day again,” Wright said.
The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, Selma Alumnae Chapter and McRae-Gaines Learning Center are co-sponsors of the event.
