Selma High made its home debut Friday night with 52-21 win over Woodlawn at Memorial Stadium.
The Saints scored with 6:06 left in the first quarter on a TD run from Dion Nelson, followed by a two-point conversion from Jevonte Stubbs.
Stubbs’ 30-yard TD run and two-point conversion put the Saints (3-2) up 16-0 after one quarter.
Nelson and Stubbs each scored touchdowns and 2-point conversions in the second quarter between a Colonels touchdown, leading 32-7 at halftime.
Nelson and Stubbs combined for three touchdowns in the second half. offsetting Woodlawn’s two touchdowns to celebrate Senior Night.
Selma High coach Willie Gandysaid he was pleased with the Saints victory although he hopes the Saints strengthen their passing game before next week’s Region game against Jemison.
Gandy also said it excited him to watch the running game against the Colonels praising the offensive line, running backs and the Nelson-Stubbs double threat.
