He was born to the late Claborne and Fannie Darden Callens. He grew up in the Summerfield/Dallas County, Alabama community.  A large number of family and friends still reside here.

The late Claborne Callens, Jr. passed away April 10, 2020 in New Haven, Connecticut where he resided.

He is remembered and honored as a loving, kind, caring husband and father.

He was friendly and jovial with everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by three sisters: Mary P. Brown, Mattie C. McMillian and Fannie C. Holyfield; wife, Daisy Watkins Callens; daughters: Mattie Louise Callens and Christine Lewis; sons: Eric and Earl Callens. He is survived by his son, Franklin Callens, three grandchildren; niece, Annie P. Richardson: nephew, Kenneth Holyfield; and a host of cousins and friends.
