During the commissioner reports section of Monday evenings Dallas County Commission meeting, all four of the commissioners announced they would seek re-election this March, including District Four Commissioner Larry Nickles, who previously announced last month that he would not run next year.
“My situations have really changed and I will seek re-election,” Nickels said during his commissioner report.
District One Commissioner Valerie Reubin was the first commissioner to announce they would seek re-election, followed by District Two Commissioner Roy Moore.
District Three Commissioner Curtis Williams announced he would also seek re-election after Nickels.
Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn stated that next year’s elections will take place March 3, 2020 and that the last day to qualify is Nov. 8.
“I always say that the people put you into position,” said Nunn. “You’re hired by the people of Dallas County.”
Nunn then thanked the commission for their work.
“I just thank God for the working relationship that we have had,” said Nunn. “It has been a great working relationship and I could not ask for a better commission to work with me at this point in time.”
Nunn also thanked the Dallas County Department Heads for their efforts.
“The department heads are the boots on the ground,” said Nunn. “A chair is only as strong as its legs and we have some strong legs holding up Dallas County.”
