Belk Charity sale set for Saturday

Belk’s bi-annual charity sale is scheduled to begin early Saturday morning at 7 a.m.

By purchasing a $5 ticket from any of the local churches, nonprofits and other groups, customers will be granted access to Saturday’s sale in which they’ll be able to receive 25 percent off already on sale items.

According to Belk Leadership Team Leader Lowanda Fitts, many local churches have jumped on the opportunity to sell the tickets, as well as the Pride of Alabama Elks Lodge who sells the tickets every year.

Though the sale is a few days away, local organizations still have the opportunity to sell the tickets.

“I know it’s on Saturday,” said Fitts. ‘But we’re still trying to get as many people as we can to sign up. They can even come get their tickets, and sit at the door [here at Belk] and sell their tickets today.”

Fitts added the event was an excellent opportunity for schools to raise money, but to her knowledge, local schools haven’t taken advantage of the opportunity.

“I just wish more schools would get involved,” she said. “I know they need money, especially our public schools.”

According to Fitts, organizations selling the tickets keep 100 percent of the profits from the tickets they sell.

In order to acquire the tickets, all organizations need to do is walk into Belk and ask to speak to Fitts or another member of the leadership team and sign a form and provide a non-tax ID number.

“100 percent of the profits go to you,” said Fitts. “We just want to get people in the building.”
