Morgan Academy golfer David Cothran teamed up with Arrington Mooney and Ira Wagoner one more time before heading off to Snead State Community College.
The trio won the second annual Morgan Academy Baseball golf tournament on Wednesday at Valley Grande County Club.
Cothran, Mooney and Wagoner shot 18-under-par, which was one shot better than Pine Belt Wireless and Trustmark Bank.
Cothran and Mooney helped the Senators win a second straight AISA Golf championship, coached by Wagoner. The first-place prize of $90 went to Wagoner because Cothran and Mooney are amateurs.
“I hit the ball really well today,” Cothran said. “I left a few balls out there, but overall I played great. It showed I have the potential to do well.”
Proceeds from the tournament goes to the Senators’ upcoming baseball team beach trip and to the squad for next season.
Morgan Academy baseball coach Stephen Clements thanked the businesses and parents for competing in the tournament.
“I appreciate the support for the baseball team,” Clements said. “There’s no way we could’ve accomplished anything without your support.”
Pearce Catfish, Turner Chevrolet, Dixie Country 98.5 FM and 100.1 FM, Tucker Family Dentistry, Julie R. Sams Family Dentistry and Kix Country 101.5 FM were the tournament sponsors.
