Margaret Fryer Westbrook,100, died Feb. 22, 2017, at her home in Auburn. Westbrook was born in Clayton on March 8, 1916, and lived for many years in Fairfield; Selma; and Biloxi, Mississippi before returning to Auburn in 2002.

Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, George T Brazelton II; her parents, Thomas and Annie Fryer; her son, G. Troup Brazelton III; four sisters: Nell Nunnelly, Ruth Fryer, Mary Sue Gray and Catherine Crooks.

Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Brazelton; grandson,Terrill Brazelton (Ashley); great-grandchildren Carter and Asher; daughter-in-law, Ginny Knight; and her three children, Brad, Kelly and Kim; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was a 1939 graduate of API in Auburn, AL and an active member of the Church Street Methodist Church in Selma and the First United Methodist Church in Gulfport, serving in leadership roles in both places.

She was also a member of the United Methodist Women serving as president of her local UMW in 1983-84 and presented with a life membership pin in1989. In Auburn, she belonged to the United Methodist Church.

Margaret also served several years as president of the Gulf Coast Symphony Guild in Biloxi and of the Pilot Club in Selma.

Margaret was an avid bridge player and enjoyed all kinds of handicrafts.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. March 1 in the New Live Oak Cemetery, 110 West Dallas AV, Selma. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Storeybook Farm, 300 Cusseta Road, Opelika, AL 36801 or to the Southern Poverty Law Center, 400 Washington Av, Montgomery, AL 36104.
