A 27-year-old Selma man turned himself in to authorities Monday morning in connection to a shooting that left two injured Saturday.

Kenneth Ingram was charged with two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of discharging a firearm in to an occupied building. Ingram was given bonds totaling $240,000 and transported to the Dallas County Jail.

“We’re glad he turned himself in,” said District Attorney Michael Jackson. “We’re glad a lot of defendants are starting to turn themselves in. It’s a good sign for Selma.”

On Saturday morning, Selma Police Department officer responded to the 600 block of Goldsby Street in reference to gunshot victims around 1 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found one victim, a 32-year-old Selma man, in the passenger seat of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh area. The second victim, a 38-year-old Selma man, was found across the street lying in the field with a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Police speculate the suspect was in a verbal altercation with one of the victims when the other victim came to intervene. Police believe Ingram retrieved a weapon and opened fire on the victims, hitting an unoccupied vehicle and an occupied residence in the process.

The victims were transported to a hospital in Montgomery for treatment.

Lt. Tory Neely said Ingram turned himself in to police headquarters Monday morning about 8:30 a.m.

Jackson said Ingram will appear in district court later in the week.
