Nancy Darlene Beard, 80, died peacefully in her sleep on May 9, 2016. Darlene is predeceased by her parents, Sam and Ada Watson, and son, Samuel Benson Beard. Darlene wants you to know that her work here is done. She received a call from which she will not be returning and it comes with a huge bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her new mission takes her to heaven where music, laughter and love are guaranteed.

The heart of the family, Darlene possessed a true servant’s heart and faithfully cared for family and friends by her witness of constant nurturing love and devotion. All whom loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace and undying love and caring for them.

She is survived by the love of her life, married for 60 years, Duncan Ferrell Beard; and four loving children, Michael (Lori) Beard, Mary (Robert) McCloud, Richard Beard and Patricia (Wayne) Wallin-Hammac. She is also survived by three sisters, Kathy Shroyer, Carol Hale and Linda Fleischhauer. She leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends, too many to list or even count.

Pallbearers include Christopher Beard, Mike Beard Jr., Jeremy Beard, Ethan Beard, Ryan Cohee, Jake Wright and Chris Bivins.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heartfelt forms from too many people to name individually, but include a personal thank you to Brenda and Sharon of Homestead Hospice.

Graveside services will be Thursday, May 12 at 1:30 p.m. in Pineview Memory Gardens with the Rev. Ed Eaton officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be prior to the service from noon -1:30 p.m.
