Letter discusses problems facing our city

Dear editor,
As the Selma City Council President I am concerned about the present problems facing our city. Recently the city of Selma has experienced a rash of violent acts. These heinous acts have cast an ominous cloud on our beloved city. Contrary to what some are saying, we are working to address the problems. Community involvement and the power of prayer are pivotal at this junction. Our police department is doing an impeccable job in protecting and servicing, but they need community involvement. As a community we must take proactive measurements for a safe environment. One senseless act is one too many for a community of our size. We must exemplify being our brothers’ keepers. My condolences go out to all of the families affected by these recent tragedies. If ever we needed a united stand the time is now. I want to encourage you to pray for peace every day.
Corey D. Bowie
City Council President
