Mrs. Christine Vaughn, age 54, a resident of Deatsville, passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 30 at 11 a.m. at Goodship Baptist Church in Millbrook with the Rev. William Garner officiating. Interment will follow service in Brookside Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Mrs. Vaughn was a member and deaconess of Goodship Baptist Church. She also was retired from the U.S. Army in which she served in Desert Storm and Desert Shield, and also worked for the State Trooper Driver’s License Division in Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Christine Peak Garner Sr., and brother, Joe Louis Garner. Leaving behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 21 years, Tony D. Vaughn Sr. of Deatsville; daughter, Kayla Vaughn of Prattville; sons, Marcus Garner of Montgomery and Tony Vaughn Jr. of Slidell, Louisiana; sisters, Rosie Garner of Selma and Gertrude Scott of Montgomery; brothers, Sylvester Garner Jr. of Talladega, William Garner of Houston, Texas, McArthur Garner of Rochester, New York and Nathaniel Garner of Montgomery; grandson, Tayden Banks of Prattville; Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Garner, James Latson, Willie Fountain, Clifford Vaughn, Eric Nettles and Elton Robinson. Mrs. Vaughn will lie in state Saturday, January 30 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the church with Brookside Funeral Home of Millbrook directing.
