The Morgan junior high girls (5-5) will face Tuscaloosa in the first round at 12:30 p.m. in the old gym.

The winner of that matchup plays the winner of Glenwood and Coosa Valley.

The other four teams in attendance in the junior high girls’ tournament are Autauga, Fort Dale, Lee Scott and Hooper.

Junior high boys’ and girls’ head coach Lee Tate said both the Lee Scott boys and Tuscaloosa girls will be challenging first-round games for his teams. Still, Tate believes the field is wide open, and he is excited to see a strong turnout for the tournament.

“There’s eight teams there that could win it, and eight teams that could go home in the first round,” Tate said. “It’s anybody’s tournament and we’ll see.”
