The last two years Dallas County ended its season in Birmingham playing for championships. After losing most of the players off those teams to graduation, it was fair to wonder how the Hornets might fare in 2015.
Based on opening night, the Hornets might be just fine.
Andre Hall scored 18 points, five rebounds and a couple of steals as Dallas County (1-0) won a close opener over Booker T. Washington 64-56.
Timothy Baker joined him in double figures with 12 points. It was a team effort for the Hornets, who had seven different players score. Kareem Ross scored 9 points and Jaydon Buford added 7 for Dallas County, who had 12 steals as a team.
Dallas County will try to start 2-0 when it takes on Southside on the road Nov. 20.
