Nader, Taylor survive playoff, win four-ball title

Phillip Nader and Taylor McCollum survived a nine-hole playoff against defending champions Andy Stewart and Paul Garner Sunday to win the Selma Country Club’s four-ball championship.
After tremendous play over the two-day tournament, neither team made a birdie during the playoff until Nader/McCollum’s at the ninth. The duo shot 64 Sunday — the lowest score of the week — to get to 11-under.
Garner and Stewart shot 66 Saturday and 65 Sunday to match that total, but couldn’t make any birdies when it mattered most.
Don Fitzgerald and Tim Fitzgerald finished third in championship flight at 6-under. Bain Hanning and Beau Boyd were 3-under for fourth in championship flight.
The field was broken into three flights after Saturday’s rounds.
Will Pearce and William Free won flight two at 5-under. Pearce and Free shot 67 on Sunday to hold off Don Blanton and Ira Wagoner, who finished at 2-under.
David Pearce and Ryan Lovelady came in third and John Hanning and Tad Moore rounded out flight two.
Andy Rives and Jimmy Cothran won flight three with a score of 9-over to edge out Jones Free and Dennis Palmer at 11-over. David Ammons and Jon Stewart shot 19-over, followed by C.H.
Sims III and Wyatt Sims who shot 20-over. Joe Hagood and Joe Hagood III came in fifth with a score of 23-over.
