Clarence “Toota” Piper, age 73, of Valley Grande passed away April 10, 2015, at home surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Nell Watters and brothers, Richard Piper and Raymond “Bubba” Piper.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Harriet Piper; children, Gordon Piper, Jennifer (James) Ford and JoJo Piper; grandchildren Kayla (Matt) Watson, Justin Foman, Tiffany Piper, Greg Piper and Katie Dildy; great-grandchildren, Boyer Watson and Gunner Watson; sister, Shirley Baggett; and brother, Henry Piper.
Toota was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and his family was very important to him. He worked construction for over 50 years and was well-known for helping people. Toota made many friends and touched the lives of many more.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 12, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be Monday, April, 13 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Tommy Ellis serving as eulogist. Interment will follow the service in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Foman, Gregg Piper, Darrell Steward, James Ford, Odis Baggett and Matt Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Baker, Eugene Barnes, Harry Pugh, Clay Steward and Edward Hoggle.
A memorial donation may be made in Toota’s name to Palliative Care Unit at UAB, 1530 Third Ave. South Birmingham, AL 35294 or Southern Care Hospice, 927 Highway 80 West Demopolis, AL 36732.
