Billy Franklin Neighbors, age 74, of Valley Grande, AL passed away August 22, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chauncy and Dezzie Neighbors and brother, Bobby J. Neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth B. Neighbors; sons, Steven F. (Melissa) Neighbors and Kevin R. (Spring) Bruner and five grandchildren, three nieces and two nephews.

Mr. Neighbors retired from the U.S. Air Force and International Paper Company. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks. He was elected Elk of the year for 2002 – 2003. He served as Esteemed Lecturing Knight Officer and served as Esteemed Loyal Knight Officer and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and Paw Paw.

Funeral services will be Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Kenny Hatcher and Rev. Stephen Rutherford officiating. Interment will be held in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

The men of Northside Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be George Bowden and Buddy Perkins.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Shelia Simpson and Susie Brooks and the staff of Cahaba Hospice.
